Skrillex fans rejoice! On Monday he premiered his OWSLA Beats Radio 1 residency.
This means you get to enjoy over 2 hours of sick beats and bass drops, banter so lame it’s cool and Skrillex’s voice. Okay, so maybe I’m the only that gets excited about listening to Skrillex talk but that’s just my fan girl showing. None the less, if you like Skrillex, you’re going to like the broadcast.
I enjoyed the show for a multitude of reasons. First off, you get to learn some interesting fun facts about not only Skrillex, but also about other artists he’s worked with. Like did you know ZHU’s studio is across the street from a strip club? That’s where the inspiration for ZHU & Skrillex & THEY’s song “Working For It” came from.
Besides learning some new information, I discovered a couple new songs as well. “Middle” by DJ Snake is one of my favorites at the moment. Skrillex remixed that song as well as one of my old favorites, “Deep Down Low” by Valentino Khan. You can find the full track list here.
The criticism was made that there was too much talking throughout the show, but I enjoyed the chatter. I mean it’s a radio show so that is to be expected. Plus I could hear Skrillex talk forever (did I mention I love his voice?).
I highly suggest checking the OWSLA Beats Radio 1 show out (link is below), even if you just browse the track list. You might find a new favorite song of the moment!
