MOGUAI – Tinhauser [Spinnin Deep]

Moguai has been a big name in house music for years, dating all the way back to the 90’s when he got his start in Germany. He became one of the very first ‘techno’ DJs when EDM really started to become alive. Moguai has also been a huge contributor in bringing EDM to radios across the globe, from 2000 to 2008, when he established his own radio station on Digitally Imported Radio called “Punx Up the Volume.” His station was broadcast in the UK, USA, Australia, Russia and Brazil.

This particular track by Moguai, “Tinhauser,” I couldn’t find a liking to however. It starts out with some profound chords, the typical deep house chords eventually breaking into a smooth beat bringing the horns you hear throughout the song. But I feel like it never really hits me. I like songs where they just hit you and you don’t have to find meaning, it just comes right at you.

With “Tinhauser,” I felt like the horns sort of ruin the whole vibe he creates in the beginning of the track. Moguai creates this beautiful build up and after the break come these loud, sad sounding horns that join the track and takes it to the point where they get annoying. The horns take away from the chords and drum and bass in the background, almost drowning them out completely. I can see how Moguai was taking a different take on deep house and I respect him for his creativity in this track but I just was not a fan.
