Don Diablo & Marnik – “Children Of A Miracle” [Spinnin’ Records]

Don Diablo is a big name artist that isn’t in my playlist as much as he should be. He won Beatport’s Future House Artist of the Year in 2016 and was also voted number 15 in DJ Mag’s top 100 DJ’s in the same year. With Diablo’s progressive twist on future house, you can clearly see why he’s a big name in electronic music.

Diablo is great; but with his latest track, “Children Of A Miracle,” nothing jumps out and grabs me. The beginning chords and smooth vocals start the song of perfectly. But the vocal chops over the future house synths kills it for me. I feel like the vocal chops take away from how good the synth is and I would probably love this song if they were not there.

I’m attracted to songs that make you want to do something or make you want to feel something. That’s the hard thing about electronic music, there are so many similar sounds and tracks you really have to set yourself apart to have a smash hit. I thought to myself when I listened to this track, “Does this make me feel something? Is it more than just a song to me?” I couldn’t find reasoning or meaning in this track. Listen to Don Diablo & Marnik – “Children Of A Miracle” here and let me know if you agree or disagree.
