In today’s age of rail-gripping, hair-flipping, fist-bumping jams that we are particularly keen on here at EDM Bangers, it’s quite refreshing to attend a show that brings a new meaning to the words “High Energy” every now and again.
Big Wild certainly punched that ticket for me last Friday at Concord Music Hall in Chicago.
Big Wild began his performance with a few of his crowd favorites, one of which included his remix of “For The Love,” a song written and made popular by Griz ft. Talib Kweli.
“For The Love” not only embodies the meaning and importance of creating and spreading music to those around us because we love to but, also brings with it a wave of positive energy and feel-good emotional responses that are unmatched by most songs in the music industry today. Needless to say, the rendition of “For The Love” brought me aboard the Big Wild train instantaneously.
Although the energy reached insurmountable heights at many times throughout the show, there were several sessions of deep-funk dance music Big Wild dipped into. During these times, the visuals on the three adjacent screens behind the large hairy man in thick-rimmed glasses would don images of nature scenes, allowing the audience to embark on a mystical, natural journey through a deep, daunting forest and over-powering ocean waves.
Look out for Big Wild, true to his name, to keep the energy high and vibes strong at his next realm of natural beauty and funky times. I will surely be attendance.
